Adyen Terminal Warranty & Replacement Coverage

What's covered under Adyen's standard terminal warranty, how long it lasts, what the Terminal Replacement Service adds, and what's excluded.

Overview

Every Adyen terminal ships with a standard hardware warranty. Partners who want longer or more flexible coverage can also add Adyen's paid Terminal Replacement Service (TRS). This article covers what each one includes, how long coverage lasts, what's excluded either way, and where to find the warranty end date for a specific terminal.

Standard Warranty (Included)

If a terminal hasn't been enrolled in TRS, it's covered by Adyen's basic warranty:

  • Length: 4 months from the shipment date.

  • Covers: defects in the hardware itself.

  • To claim: the merchant (or partner on their behalf) completes a warranty claim form and returns the defective hardware to Adyen.

  • Investigation fee: if Adyen inspects the unit and doesn't find a covered defect, they can charge up to 50% of the terminal's list price for the investigation.

Terminal Replacement Service (Paid Add-On)

TRS is a monthly per-terminal fee that extends coverage well beyond the basic 4 months:

  • What it covers: free replacement for terminals with a hardware defect that stops them from submitting transactions.

  • Term: runs indefinitely once enrolled — either side can end it with one week's notice.

  • Model support commitment: Adyen commits to supporting each terminal model for a minimum of 3 years from delivery, and will give 6 months' notice before discontinuing support for a model.

Checking a Terminal's Warranty End Date

You can see the warranty end date for each terminal right from the device list:

  1. Open your terminal/device list.

  2. Click the ⚙️ wheel icon on the right side of the screen.

  3. Add the Warranty End Date column.

Once added, that column shows the warranty end date for every terminal in the list, so you don't have to look them up one at a time.

What's Not Covered

Neither the standard warranty nor TRS covers damage from:

  • Unauthorized modifications or repairs

  • Improper use or non-Adyen accessories

  • Water damage, extreme temperatures, or drops

  • Power surges

  • Battery failures

  • Missing parts or damaged plastics
