📱S1E2L Boarding

Step-by-step guide to unbox, inspect, connect, and onboard the S1E2L payment terminal.

What's in the box

  • S1E2L payment terminal

  • USB-C cable and region-specific power plug

  • eSIM card (pre-installed and activated)

Step 1: Inspect the terminal

Before powering on, verify the terminal hasn't been tampered with:

  1. Confirm the shipping box is sealed and the tamper-evident security tape is intact.

  2. In the Adyen Customer Area, go to In-person payments > Orders and returns and verify the serial number (S/N) on the box matches your order. Use the track & trace link to confirm carrier delivery.

  3. Open the box and confirm the S/N on the terminal matches the S/N on the box.

  4. Physically inspect the terminal for signs of tampering: missing screws, extra wires or labels, holes, or anything inserted into the device.

If any check fails, contact ValPay Support immediately. Do not use the terminal.

Step 2: Power on and charge

  1. Connect the terminal to power using the supplied USB-C cable and plug.

  2. Press and hold the power button until the display turns on.

  3. Let the battery charge for at least four hours before use.

USB-C cable tips: Always insert/remove the cable straight — not at an angle. Do not bend or force it. Inspect the cable and port regularly for debris, especially in high-humidity or food-service environments.

Step 3: Select language

On the Welcome screen, select your preferred language.

Step 4: Connect to your network

Wi-Fi

  1. On the Welcome screen, tap the arrow button to open Setup Wi-Fi.

  2. Tap the + sign, then turn on the WLAN toggle.

  3. Select your Wi-Fi network from the list (or tap + to enter an SSID manually).

  4. Enter the password and tap OK. The terminal connects and sets this as the default network.

To update Wi-Fi settings later: Settings > Network > enter passcode > Wi-Fi.

Cellular failover (eSIM)

The S1E2L includes a pre-installed, activated eSIM. If Wi-Fi drops, the terminal automatically switches to cellular (3G/4G) to maintain payment processing. No setup required for terminals boarded after 2022. If you're unsure whether your eSIM is activated, contact ValPay Support.

Step 5: Assign to your store

Once connected to the network, the Confirm store screen will appear. Verify the store name and tap the check mark to confirm. If the wrong store is shown, tap the edit button to correct it.

Note: If the Confirm store screen doesn't appear, the terminal hasn't synced yet. Syncs happen approximately every three hours. Wait and try again.

✅ Once you've completed these steps, the terminal is boarded and ready to process payments.
